The department of English Of S.S.Duraisamy Nadar Mariammal College has enormous history and rich profile. The course B.A English was introduced in the college in the academic year 1997-98, as studying language was the need of the day. The staff works strenuously for the enhancement of the academic and language skills of the students who are from rural areas. In 2009-10 post graduate course M.A English was introduced for the benefit of our student studying B.A English in our college. As the grace for Studying BA English increased day by day it was decided to start an additional course B.A (English with computer application) to fulfill the need of the day. It was inaugurated on the Academic year 2010-2011.
The department has crowned the college by producing so many rank holders. The department is delighted to intimate that many of our students have established themselves as good teachers and Assistant professors in various schools and colleges. The Grand inauguration of the Language Lab “Pegasus” was held on 7th February 2020. The language lab plays a vital role to hone the communication skill of all the students in the college. Inter collegiate seminars were conducted for the welfare of the student community. Association meetings were often conducted in which students are provided platform to expose their imbibed skills.
